Quenching

Dec. 25, 2024

The most commonly used cooling media for quenching are salt water, water and oil. Workpieces quenched in salt water are easy to obtain high hardness and smooth surface, and are not prone to produce soft spots that cannot be hardened, but they are easy to cause serious deformation of the workpiece and even cracking. The use of oil as a quenching medium is only suitable for quenching some alloy steels or small-sized carbon steel workpieces with relatively large stability of supercooled austenite.

Ultrasonic quenching is currently a common process for quenching machine tool guide rails. The quenching layer is generally 2.5-3mm, and the quenching hardness is HT250 material----HRC46-50 HT300 material----HRC48-52
